7:30 a.m. – Breakfast in the Grill and I am so glad that I discovered I can order omelets.  My favorite breakfast selection!

8:00 a.m. – This morning we have a zodiac cruise and it turns out to be the most amazing morning.  We get to watch penguins swimming and jumping, glaciers calving and we take turns standing in the front of the boat getting our photo taken with the amazing mountains and blue ice behind us.

I love this destination!!

And then IT happened!!  An AVALANCHE!  (I was in awe and didn’t get any photos. LOL).  It was about 100 yards from us and just incredible.

Later in the ride, I ask a question about why some floating ice looks white and some look black.  The guide loved the question and pulled out two chunks and explained the difference due to the white one full of oxygen and the black one with a lack of oxygen (no bubbles essentially).  I love that this trip is all about learning new things and not just seeing the nature.

And our last treat was that the ship’s bar team came out in a zodiac to serve everyone champagne, hot cocoa and cookies.  It was pretty fun to pull up beside them to get our drinks and snacks.  By the way, they served the champagne in real crystal glasses….

9:50 a.m. – I am back on the ship and just chilling in the Panoramic Lounge writing notes and watching the other guests in the zodiacs.  I then saw my 2nd avalanche of the day.  Pretty sweet.

12:00 noon – I decided to have lunch in the Grill.  I sat at a table by myself just watching the scenery but some friends I met (in the hotel while waiting to exchange my boots) invited me to join them and the friends they made on the ship.  It turned out to be a really fun group and I enjoyed it a lot.

1:00 p.m. – Nothing scheduled for a while as we are just cruising to our next location. I decided to hang out on the top deck and search for whales.  I ended up seeing 3 whales and 1 seal (who was just chilling on a floating piece of ice).  I only photographed the tales of the whales from a distance as they were not real close to the ship.

2:00 p.m. – Our evening briefing is moved up due to our later arrival at our next location so I listened to that so I know what to expect.

3:00 p.m. – I venture back up on deck to search for more whales.  Nothing doing this time around.

3:30 p.m. – Our afternoon location is the beautiful Neko Harbour and we have a landing so we get to do a hike.  This is a really steep climb and the snow is thick which tends to give way easily.  My boots keep sinking in up to my knees and I fall on my backside quite a bit. I honestly thought about turning around multiple times but pushed myself to keep going.  The view was amazing and the water reflected like a mirror so I had some awesome photos.

6:00 p.m. – Back on the ship to shower and then do my laundry.  TMI, but I really worked it getting up and down that mountain so everything was soaking wet.  Thankfully, Silversea provides complimentary self-service laundry machines. I am super exhausted so I just kind of chilled in the lounge while playing solitaire card games.  I needed something mindless just to let me chill for a while.

I also went back up on the top deck to see what scenery is slipping by.  We sail through a white out!  It was snowing so hard that you could barely see the front of the Silver Endeavour!  It didn’t last too long but kind of eerie how you cannot see and there are ice chunks just floating around.  How do they even know what lies ahead?!!!

7:45 p.m. – We had dinner in The Restaurant tonight with the same group that I had lunch with today.  Lots of fun and interesting discussions with everyone tonight.  Corn & pumpkin fritters, shrimp soup and sweet & sour chicken were my selections tonight.

9:45 p.m. – Tonight’s entertainment was a Family Feud style game in the Panoramic Lounge.  After the game, I was joined by my friends, Mike & Jennifer.  We talked a lot about his job as a supervisor for the bomb sniffing dogs at the Fort Lauderdale Airport.  Pretty interesting stuff.

11:00 p.m. – Early to bed tonight as it has been a few very long days.  You definitely are on the go with this type of cruise experience.
