Our Upscale Excursions & Discovery Tours program is very popular, especially our Mystery Trips. These trips always sell out on the day that we announce them regardless if they are a 1 day trip, an overnight trip or even our 3 night trip!! Below is a quick recap from our October 3, 2017 Mystery Trip. We are sure you will enjoy reading the recap and we hope to see you on our next Mystery Trip.
It turned out to be a wonderful bright and sunny fall day for this trip.
At 8:15 am the day started with a choice of Mimosas or orange juice or non-alcoholic Pina Colada served after departure instead of our usual coffee and muffins.
First stop – ShurTech in Avon, OH (The address is 32150 JUST IMAGINE Drive, Avon, OH)
This the headquarters of Duck Tape company. If and when you drive on 90 W, you can see their billboard.
We spent an hour to listen to live company history and watch videos. Company was started by a traveling salesman selling masking tape etc. Now a supplier for all Walmart and similar stores.
Next hour was spent in the plant when the staff of almost 400 went on lunch break. It was amazing to see award winning prom dresses on display. Participants also had a chance to create their own masterpieces by using duck tape with scissors etc.
Every fathers day they do a DUCK TAPE FESTIVAL, free of charge.
Lunch was served at Istanbul Mediterranean Grill in Avon, OH
Restaurant does not serve alcohol, but you are allowed to bring your own. We brought our wine and served with lunch. People loved the experience!
Next stop was the US Coast Guard in Cleveland by 9th St Pier. Wonderful experience to see the life saving rescue boats and computers where they can scan the entire world’s shorelines. Very cool experience.
Following the Coast Guard, we visited the USS Cod Submarine. We actually went inside this 300 ft submarine with a guide who had been with the submarine for 41 years, ever since when he was 18 years old.
Next stop was the Soldiers and Sailors Monument right in downtown Cleveland on Public Square. The Executive Director was our guide who had phenomenal knowledge. We had people who lived in Cleveland or traveled to Cleveland for many years but never thought about a site like this.
Light dinner was served at the restaurant named FORAGE in Lakewood. Perch Tacos, BLT and Ohio raised Beef Burger, plus a variety of desserts were on the menu.
We arrived back at the lot around 9:15 pm.
May be you can make a day trip for yourselves one day utilizing this itinerary.
